Book onlineAmanda is a senior yoga teacher with 40 years’ experience of teaching yoga and training others to teach yoga as well as being a C-IYAT Certified Yoga Therapist and Supervisor. All Amanda’s classes are built on biodynamic principles, offering an holistic, ethical and nourishing approach to the body as a self-sustaining living organism full of healthy potential. Her creative and uplifting teaching draws inspiration from several styles of yoga and movement modalities such as somatics.
Amanda enjoys offering a wide range of eclectic movement within the framework of yoga and her warm and inclusive classes are available to EVERYBODY. Amanda’s therapeutic background in Craniosacral Therapy and Compassionate Inquiry deepens her intelligent and intuitive understanding of the human body and allows her to offer trauma-informed, neurodivergent and LGBTQI friendly yoga classes.
Amanda teaches yoga students as well as training yoga teachers. Following her Fine Art degree she studied Iyengar yoga in Australia and the UK. Her endless curiosity has since led her to study other styles of yoga and particularly the somatic movement of Moshe Feldenkrais and Thomas Hanna. Amanda also teaches the teachers: she contributes to several teacher trainings around the UK encouraging enquiry into how and why patterns might be manifesting in our system and how they influence our lives off the mat. She offers short Level 2 trainings that are intended to provide experienced teachers with fresh inspiration, empowerment and insight.
Amanda teaches a variety of classes a week, including Beginners’/Alignment Yoga, Therapeutic Yoga, Somatic Yoga and Chair Yoga. Her style of teaching is particularly suited to anyone recovering from injury or managing mobility or neurological issues. She teaches to a theme each term, offering focus and interest to long-standing students and visiting drop-students alike.
Feel free to explore Amanda’s Ground of Being website for more background or get in touch if you’s like to connect and she will be happy to help.
Therapeutic Yoga is a one hour class for folk who have been attending Amanda’s Gentle Therapeutic Yoga class (Thursdays 9.30am) and want slightly more challenge as we work to create a greater sense of space and freedom of movement. Alternatively it is suitable for those who for whatever reason fancy treating themselves to a simpler, slower class that nourishes the whole body and mind.
Beginners’/Alignment Yoga for is a one hour ideal class for those who are new to yoga but it also offers increased depth and awareness to yoga students with any level of training. This class is for you if you’re interested in exploring different aspects of alignment, the anatomical reasoning behind it and pros and cons of using props. It is an opportunity to gain better understanding of what your body needs in your own yoga practice. Beginners’/Alignment Yoga classes provide an enjoyable, informative experience of yoga, serving as a complete practice in itself or informing and deepening your current movement practice.
Gentle Therapeutic Yoga is most suited to people who want to start Yoga classes very gently to see what works for them and gradually gain confidence to move more freely and easily. This one hour Yoga class is taught with no pressure and lots of tailored support to help you understand safe ways of working with your body. Gentle Therapeutic Yoga is helpful for those who are rehabilitating from injury or surgery, recovering from a health challenge or would simply enjoy a slower, more restful experience.
Chair Yoga is ideal for those of us who find it too difficult at present to get up and down from the floor. We start seated and options are provided to invite to you to stay sitting or join in with standing exercises. Careful individual attention is given and a range of helpful props and other supports are available at the Studio. Many different kinds of people enjoy Chair Yoga. It may be especially good for you if you have arthritis, auto-immune challenges, Parkinson’s, MS, if you are post-cancer or you are simply becoming an elder. The Studio has level, step-free access and facilities.
Somatic Yoga classes are based on the mindful movement work of Moshe Feldenkrais, Thomas Hanna and Eleanor Crisswell. Somatics is an interesting movement form that uses a range of simple, repeated movements to explore and release deeply held patterns in the physical and emotional body/mind. Many somatic movements are performed lying down so it’s important that you are comfortable getting up and down off the floor if you’d like to join this class. Somatic Yoga practice is ideal for those who want to deepen their awareness of their body and mind patterns, or who wish to slow down and benefit from a sense of increased spaciousness and ease of movement.

Holly has been practicing yoga since the age of 16 and fell in love with the practice for its physical benefits – greater flexibility and strength – as well as its mental benefits of cultivating a calm and clear mind. She has practiced yoga with a variety of teachers who introduced her to pranayama and meditation, and after moving to Falmouth in 2016, she discovered Bhakti yoga and Vinyasa Flow. She was immediately drawn to their rich elements of myth, mudra, and mantra.
Holly completed her yoga training in 2017, and her themed classes offer a space to step away from busy daily life and reconnect with ourselves. Her creative sequences build strength and mobility, with a strong focus on alignment and breath.
After the birth of her eldest daughter in 2019, Holly completed her pre- and post-natal training. She is passionate about using yoga to support women on their journey into motherhood and beyond. Her pre-natal classes (Tuesdays 6pm) use heart-centred practices to nurture connection with the body, breath, and growing baby. Her post-natal classes (Tuesdays 10am) draw on themes of acceptance, surrender, love and strength, using breath and gentle movement to deepen body awareness. They also incorporate baby massage to support infant development.
Both her pre- and post-natal offerings emphasise relationship-building and community, and Holly delights in witnessing the strong support networks that often form among the women who attend her classes—many of whom continue their friendships long after their babies have grown.
Alongside Chloë, Holly shares the teaching of Men’s Yoga on Tuesdays at 7.30pm, enjoying working with this welcoming group, nested within the Studio community.
Holly is also a secondary science teacher and is passionate about the benefits and transformative potential of yoga for teenagers. She has recently trained as a celebrant, weaving her heart-centred approach into ceremonies for weddings, namings, and funerals.
Outside the studio, you’ll often find her enjoying Falmouth’s beaches and parks with her three young daughters or making time for restorative sea swims.
75 minutes of yoga to support postnatal recovery; bond with your baby and connect with a group of women going through the same wild and wonderful ride of motherhood. You can expect pranayama (breathing practices) to find calm and reconnect to your core; asanas (postures) to build core strength and target common symptoms such as back pain; massage for your baby as well as a wonderful group of women to share your experiences with and help champion you on. Please note this is a block booking of 6 weeks. Drop in passes are also available.
75 minutes of connection: to your breath; your body; your baby and a wonderful community of other mums to be. You can expect gentle asanas (postures) and movement to increase space around your baby; ease common pregnancy symptoms; build strength and help prepare for labour. Different pranayama (breathing practices) to find calm; increase energy levels and manage the stages of labour. Each class ends with a deep relaxation and /or guided yoga nidra to connect with your baby.
